ACEA Conducts Planning and Capacity Building Workshop for CSEF Coalitions in Amman, Jordan 13-16 November 2016

The Arab Campaign for Education for All conducted its first workshop in the third Phase of CSEF Project 2016-2018 on Planning and Capacity Building for CSEF Coalitions from Middle East and East Europe (Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Moldova, Albanian, Georgia and Palestine).

The workshop gathered the Coalitions' Coordinators, Financial officers, GCE MEL officer besides CSEF Head of Finance and Administration for 4 days between the period from 13-16 November 2016. The workshop mainly aimed at providing the necessary knowledge and skills about the CSEF project in order to enhance the capacities of the coalitions in managing, following up and monitoring the project in an effective way.

In specific the workshop aimed at reflecting on 2016 implementation phase and at reviewing CSEF refinement process and its reflection on 2017 template. During the workshop the GCE staff introduced CSEF new MEL strategy and the financial online system to ME&EE Coalitions in order to track the achievements of the program in an efficient manner. At the end of the workshop the coalitions worked on developing their draft proposals for 2017 including expected results linked to revised policy/programmatic targets of coalition’s 2017 plans based on the new template.

During the workshop, press conference was conducted to launch GCE report on

"Private Profit, Public Loss: Why the push for low-fee private schools is throwing quality education off-track". The report sets out the corrosive consequences – greater inequality and social segregation – of increasing privatisation in education, and casts serious doubt on the ability of for-

profit, low-fee private schools to achieve quality education for all.
