The Egyptian Coalition conducts various Activities within GAW 2014

Educational conference within the Global Action Week for 2014, entitled "The rights of people with disabilities in the education and integration of public schools"

"Egyptians Without Borders" organized in cooperation with the Egyptian Coalition for Education, an educational conference within the Global Action Week for 2014, entitled "The rights of people with disabilities in the education and integration of public schools. Safinaz Mohammed Ibrahim , head of the Association of Egyptian Without Borders , said that the aim of the conference is to come up with recommendations to be implemented by decision makers to develop education for people with special needs, and increase the capabilities and modern technological means within the schools with disabilities, and the partnership between civil society and education about improving schools merger, and the training of teachers in these schools to receive these students and integrate naturally with the normal participation in society effectively.

She also added that the rights are equal and as long as equal the opportunities are equal as well, noting that through the field follow-up in schools, found that parents interested in their children with disabilities, but there is a need to educate the students themselves, parents need to integrate the various students with each other

Round table discussing on the outputs of the field study on the disabled people right in education

Egyptians without borders Foundation; the general coordinator of the Egyptian Coalition for Education; has concludedyesterday 5th May, 2014 the events of the Round table for discussing the outputs of the field study on the disabled people right in education, and this was in the hall of Aswan Faculty Members Club. This event included 38 participants from educational leaders, media people, disabled students' parents, and the merge and disabled schools managers; and through displaying and discussing the important outputs of the field study ; the participants have commended some recommendations that the Egyptian Coalition for Education has promised to follow up them by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the partner organizations, the teachers' Union, and Aswan College of Education who are the Egyptian Coalition for Education members.


The recommendations that were provided during the meeting included activating and increasing the proportion of 5% for the disabled people; reducing the students numbers in the merge classes; starting activating the merge from early year 3:4; to have sources rooms at schools; raising the IQ of the disabled to 70% as a minimum in order to join the merge schools ( return to the decision No. 117); to have a manufacturing unit at the special schools for the disabled; the return of the IQ tests again; to have a specialized center for measuring intelligence to determine the possibility of joining merge schools; raising the merge schools teachers' salaries; to put the exams according to eacg disability nature; to give training courses for the teachers by the Ministry to be approved and recognized; to involve the stakeholders ( such as parents, experts,…..) in curriculum designing and developing; to expand in building new merge schools; choosing the low density schools to activate the merge at them; to have specialists inside the IQ measuring committees to determine the disability type and degree, and the extent to which it is suitable for merge; then explaining the child status to the parents; to have an annual medical examination to the disabled children; opening special classes for the children with dual disabilities and the autistic ones; " about the civil society role" to spread the acceptance culture for the disabled within their parents, their normal peers, and their whole society; the return of the specialist missions for training and qualifying the special education teachers; to give training courses by the teachers professional academy; to modify the educational building to be suitable for the disabled students nature; to have the permanent health care by the health insurance for the disabled people after ending the education phase
