The Coordination Committee of the Arab Campaign for Education for All-ACEA held a meeting for its members in coordination with the Sudan Coalition for Education for All during April 25-30, 2014 in Coral Hotel –Khartoum.
The
meeting was held in participation of education coalitions from Jordan, Egypt,
Somalia, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Palestine, and Sudan. In addition to HE
Professor Suad Abdel Razek, the Minister of Education of Sudan, HE Mr. Adam
Abdullah AL- Nur, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Education, HE Dr.
Abdel Mahmoud Al-Nur, the Minister of Education in Khartoum State, Dr. Abdul
Latif Sayyed Ahmad, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education and
Scientific Research of the National Council (parliament), as well as Mr. Refaat
Sabbah, ACEA President.
The meeting included presentations to introduce the goals, achievements, challenges of educational collations in the Arab World in Sudan, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Somalia, Lebanon, and Palestine. The meeting also included long discussions to formulate ACEA vision, mission, the overall objective, and eventually to finalize ACEA Statue, and strategic plan.
The meeting also included various activities including short visit by the participants to the Down syndrome Center in Khartoum. The visit was followed by a meeting in the parliament with Dr. Fatih Ezzedine al-Mansur, the President of the National Council.
ACEA Coordination Committee meeting was closed with press conference that was conducted in Tagelsir Al-Khatm. During this conference the Global Action Week 2014 was lunched under the slogan "Inclusive Education…Equal Rights…Equal Opportunities". The conference was conducted in participation of representatives from UNESCO, UNICEF, Minister of State at the Ministry of Education, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, in addition to other representatives of Ministry of Education, councils of persons with disability, as well as ACEA Coordination Committee, member of the Sudan Coalition, and media professionals. The participants have confirmed on the necessity of unity and solidarity among all sectors of society until achieving EFA goals, especially persons with disabilities who will be targeted in the Global Action Week 2014. Where, all GAW 2014 activities will be conducted in solidarity with persons with disability, to advocate their issues, and try to integrate them with other segments of society.
At the end of the conference it was stressed on the importance of cooperation among all sectors in the society including CSOs, governmental institutions, and regional unions for the sustainability of education for all.
