Under
the patronage of the Secretary of the Sanaa and within the activities of the
International Day of Literacy, the Yemeni coalition for education for All
conducted a consultative meeting with civil society organizations to support
the free and compulsory education in Yemen.
This
meeting was conducted with the participation of members of the National
Dialogue Conference, UNESCO, Chamber of Commerce, the Secretariat of the Capital,
the Literacy Eradication Body, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information,
University of Sana'a, along with members of the Yemeni Coalition.
This
meeting was conducted within the Framework of CSEF project in Yemen, where the
Yemeni Coalition identified one of its goals to include constitutional text
about free and compulsory education and supporting girls' education in the new
Yemeni Constitution. This meeting was conducted to build real and active
partnerships that can contribute to activate the policy of free and compulsory
education.
The most important results of this meeting:
-The willingness of the National
Dialogue Conference members to be a partner in supporting the educational
process as well as to deliver the vision of the coalition to the National
Dialogue Conference including the free and compulsory education and to
follow-up with the specialized department in the Conference to include the free
and compulsory education within the agenda of the National Dialogue Conference
that will be submitted to the specialized committee responsible for drafting
the constitution. The coalition followed-up with the specialized department to
present this demand at the closing session of the conference.
-Preparation of a common vision
about the free and compulsory education that was submitted to the National
Dialogue Conference
- The approval of the commercial room
to allocate %30 of its budget for publicity to support the educational process
-The UNESCO had shown its full
support of the coalition to support the educational process.
-The approval of the Ministry of Information
to prepare awareness programs to support the educational process
-The Ministry of Education had
confirmed its full support of the coalition and its activities
-The approval of the Capital Secretariat
to support the educational process
- Sana’a University had confirmed its
willingness to provide the coalition, the Ministry of Education or Illiteracy
Eradication body with all the needed scientific researches, and studies which could
serve the educational process
-The agreement of all participants
to create a consultant body headed by the capital Secretary to support the
coalition in order to serve and support education
-The approval of Illiteracy
Eradication body to provide all the needed information and facilities.
