The Arab Network for Literacy and Adult Education Issues a Declaration of Condemnation Statement against the Israeli Violence against Gaza Strip

The Arab Network for Literacy and Adult Education expressed its deep concern over the continuity of the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian People especially in Gaza Strip, that led by the end of July 2014 – according to the UN statistics –to the death of at least 1150 --- 850 of whom are civilians --- including 400 children under 18 years of age – nearly 200 women and also nearly 5900 injured.

The Network strongly condemned targeting civilians who are not involved in the conflict as a kind of revenge from them and to compensate the military failure over the last 60 years.

According to the statistics of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights and UNRWA show that the Israeli army targeted 7 hospitals, 18 clinics and medical centers, 12 ambulance cars, 6 UNRWA  Schools and Shelters, in addition to the main energy station and 6 lines of Importing Electricity from Israel.

The statistics also indicates that the number of displaced people reached to 240,000 refugees in UNRWA schools, 16000 in governmental schools, and 264000 in public places and with relatives.

These practices are considered clear human rights violations and are denied by the International Humanitarian Law. The Network condemns these crimes that represent the racism of the Israeli Army. At the same time the network welcomes the decision undertaken by the UN Human Rights Council during its special meeting on 23 July 2014 especially the formation of an international investigation mechanism on the violations conducted during the war. It also welcomes the sincere efforts conducted by Egypt to support the Palestinian issue.

The Network demands all regional and international organizations as well as the Arab and international societies to present all kinds of support to Palestine and to form pressure `on Israel to end its crimes.
