The Somali Coalition Conducts a Research on Curriculum Development in the Country. Feb 2015

 The Somali Coalition conducted a research in south central Zone of Somalia on curriculum development in the country. This research is conducted in accordance with the efforts of the Ministry of Education and education stakeholders to develop a national curriculum for primary schools.  Before this curriculum is finished, the coalition is working to assess what type of curriculum the primary schools are in need to use, where last year the national curriculum for secondary schools were completed and distributed in a soft copy by the ministry. The Education Umbrella organizations were able to print on their own.

 This research was conducted by the Somali Coalition to assist the creation of unified national 
curriculum for primary schools (public or private); to assist the Ministry of Education to get need
assessment on the Curriculum before its development is finished; and to assess what type of
curriculum the primary schools are in need to use.
This research targeted 20 schools including 5 primary schools Hiiraan region; 5 primary 
schools in Lower Shabelle region; 5 primary schools in Middle Shabelle region; and 5 primary 
schools in Benadir (Mogadishu).
The research was conducted in participation of Somali coalition members in South 
Central and with the support from education umbrella organizations in South Central 
Somalia Zone of Somalia. In addition 20 primary school principals, 4 enumerators, 1 team 
leader, and 1 report writer participated effectively in the activities of this research.
